Monday Musings

Is it summer yet, or at least warm enough to wear shorts and a cute tee?  I find that of all the seasons Summer seems to feel the shortest and  go too quickly.  By March I'm completely over the cooler temperatures and crave 80 degree, sunny days!

Last Monday we were at the beach with near perfect weather, hence I didn't bother writing, right now would prefer to be back listening to the sounds of the ocean as well.  My brain feels too scattered to write lately.  Too many all over the place thoughts to put into writing and have make sense.

We were actually at the beach for a friend's wedding on Sunday.  She could not have asked for a more perfect beach wedding, the day was sunny with temperatures actually hovering around 70!  That's warm for the Jersey shore in April.  Usually the ocean wind keeps it feeling chilly but there was only a light breeze at best.

Overall it was a beautiful wedding, with a delicious dessert table of shore favorites salt water taffy, caramel popcorn and fudge.  Due to me being allergic to eggs the dessert table is usually off limits but not this time.  Not sure how many times I visited the dessert table but lets just say probably more than anyone else. ;)

We had an interesting mix of people at a our table, and the man ended up being the only guy.  Our other friend Joseph decided to be a no show not something that the bride was too excited about given each plate costs a nice penny.  Pretty much every woman at our table drank too much, one passed out during dinner on her plate, the other was a hot mess filling us in on all the drama of her whole life, and the other was a mother/daughter pair who seemed to be able to manage their alcohol better than the other two.  Meanwhile, I didn't drink and the man only had maybe two beers. It was an interesting night for sure.  I was just grateful to be at the beach and hanging with friends.

The man actually sat on the beach with me, something he hasn't always done in the past.  It was really nice and I'm glad he made that extra effort on both Sunday and Monday.  He likes the beach but isn't obsessed with it like me.  I can sit for hours on the beach just listening and watching the ocean, no music needed just the sound of nature.

Overall there is so much on our plates right now, I can feel my stress levels rising.  Interesting as when I start feeling overwhelmed or too stressed literally cannot even listen to music.  You think music would be calming but it only seems to irritate me when in a stressed state.  Combine a stressed state with pms and you can only imagine my mood. Feel like people should be walking on eggshells around me.

Our lease is up in July, while we are officially house hunting the market here is not good.  Usually by this time of year the market is full of houses for sale but this year the realtor informed us the market is very slow, and the ones in our budget that are becoming available are being snatched up right away. Of course the year we are ready to buy the market is slow, go figure. Out of the few we have seen only two we really liked, and found out the day we toured each that offers had already been made.  It's maddening but yet not completely unexpected.  It's exactly why I suggested to the man we start looking back in January, but you know men they just aren't great at the whole listening thing. lol

Meanwhile we are still in the midst of trying to plan a wedding. Oh yeah just a wedding. Seriously a wedding in August and we have to buy a house by then too?  Just one alone is stressful but trying to do both is insanity!

Oh and lets not forget my family, as my sister is due to give birth to her second child at the age of 42 this week.  As I mentioned before it's a high risk pregnancy, they will be performing a c section and injecting her with lots of blood thinners as well.  Saying lots of prayers.

I got to hang out with my niece on Friday as she had off from school.  We had a girls days of sorts with some lunch and shopping.  She accompanied me to the bridal store where I exchanged the first wedding dress picked out for another one.  Yup I'm that kind of bride. haha  Seriously had no clue what type of dress I wanted, tried on so many with little success.  The sheath style originally ordered came in but when I tried it on, well lets just say it didn't feel like a true wedding dress.  Plus too many alternations would have been needed as there was just too much extra material, so luckily they let me exchange it. Hopefully I like the new one when it arrives.

Anyway, I need to get off computer as it's making me dizzy.  Tomorrow is Pennsylvania's primary voting day, of course I'll have something to say about that. ;)

Been awhile since I've posted some photos so thought I'd share some of our beach adventure. The day of the wedding and the next morning at 6:30 am as I took in the sunrise on the beach. There is no better way to start a day, this surfer girl needs to live at the beach again!
