Woof Wednesday

Welcome to Woof Wednesday. Please meet some great dogs from CA,FL, NY, PA and TX all in need of good, loving homes!

Wally is a Westie/Terrier/possible Corgi mix. He is 1-2 yrs old and 20 lbs. He's been featured before and cannot believe he hasn't found a home yet. Such a sad story...their mom lost her house due to forclosure and brought her 2 dogs into the city shelter. She was crying and the dogs were crying when she left Wally and his brother there (Wally's brother got adopted). Wally gets along great with other dogs and cats. He's young and has a lot of energy. He loves to run and play with other dogs and we must place him with another dog around his age and size. He needs a calm, loving environment. He is very affectionate, sweet and adorable. Wally is healthy, house trained, neutered, current on all vaccines, and micro-chipped. Please lets find him a loving home!

Rufus is a sweet Beagle who is so happy to be saved. He gets along well with the other dogs in the home. It appears that Rufus has not a lot of practice of just hanging out while people eat. Because of this, he needs to be crated when food is being brought out. He does not bark much in his foster home which is nice, although the three other dogs with him might give him a few lessons. It is odd, but outside he has not barked while in the yard. We think he may have spent a lot of time in the back yard before TBBR rescued him. If Rufus was kept mostly outside, it would explain his fear of thunderstorms. During storms, he shakes a bit and tries to climb somewhere high. He will need patience. Rufus loves toys. The first morning he was in the foster home, he took a Nylabone outside. His foster saw him under the pine trees by the fence and went over to check on him. It looked like he was building a nest. When the pine needles were searched through, the Nylabone was found underneath. Rufus was saving the bone until later although he did not dig a hole. Rufus always seems happy and his tail makes a thumping noise hitting the ground. We often say he should be named Thumper since we hear his tail frequently. His tail will wag even a little harder when he is adopted. Please lets find this guy a great home!

Jazzy and Bette Lou are two adorable dogs who came to Bideawee together after they were rescued in Alabama. They seem to be very bonded to each other, so we would love to see them adopted as a pair. Jazzy is a 5 year old Wheaten Terrier mix who weighs 43 pounds and Bette Lou is a 4 year old Rat Terrier mix who weighs 18 pounds. They are both housebroken already. Bette Lou is very selective about her canine friends, but she is very attached to her BFF, Jazzy. These sweethearts will do well with a gentle family with older children.  Please lets find these two a good home!

 Sparkle is a 5 year old American Eskimo. She is around 15 lbs.  A calm girl that loves to be brushed.  She's good with other dogs, doesn't mind cats and likes kids.  She walks really well on leash and loves to go on walks.  She is house-trained.  She's very affectionate and loves being around people. She was surrendered by her owner for family reasons.  Please lets find her a loving home!

Max is a Dachshund. He is a nice gentleman who has some mobility issues that we discovered when we got him from the shelter some time ago. Thanks to good medication and a strong love of life, you'd never know he has problems. Max's rear legs have some deformed bones and joints on both sides. The vet was unable to determine if he was born that way or if it's trauma induced from many years ago. In either case, there is no way to surgically correct the condition. He also has some chronic IVDD (back pain), probably age-related. Given that Max is very responsive to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication we are confident he can continue to enjoy his quality of life. Max is a happy boy who loves people, enjoys most other dogs, and is still mighty good looking for a senior gentleman. If you are not able to adopt a nice man with his needs please consider sponsoring Max by assisting with the ongoing expense of his medication.  Please lets find him a great home!

 Millie and Boo are Dachshunds who have been loyal, loving pets for years and are inseparable. They must be adopted together. The two are about eleven years old, and unfortunately their owner is in her 70's and is going through some medical problems that prevent her from continuing to keep them. We are trying to find a loving home to care for Millie and Boo through their senior years and to help make this as easy as possible on them, as well as on their owner. The two are current on everything, in good health, and still love to take walks, race down to the fence and back, bark happily if people come by, and visit they are social and even adore children (as long as the young ones are gentle). Millie is more of the long leash walk type and Boo is more of the master of the yard type who likes to patrol the perimeter but has no love for the leash and harness technique, but both are very active for their age. Millie and Boo are still with their owner for now so we don't have to move them until it's to their new furever home. We are hoping to find the right home for them before it becomes too difficult for their owner to continue to care for them. Want a couple cute Dachshunds, low maintenance and full of love. Millie and Boo may be the perfect pair for you. Please lets find this sweet pair a good home!

No paw left behind our mission!
{Please keep in mind a dog is lifetime commitment. They need attention, love and time just like we do. In addition, adding a pet to the family does cost money in the way of food, health care, training,etc. So before adopting make sure you are willing to make that kind of commitment and have the resources to do so.}

If you want to be a part of Woof Wednesdays email Ann Michele, Lauren or leave a comment. Or simply start posting about dogs in need of a home on your blog or facebook page!

  1. You are awesome.

    p.s. we are going to adopt a dog soon! Looking for a smooth haired fox terrier or maybe a jack russell (although I should specify that I am looking for those kinds of dogs, not necessarily Scott ;)

  2. The problem with reading this feature is that I want EVERY last one of them.

Please feel free to share your thoughts. Blessings!
