Chocolate is miniature Poodle who is a quiet little charmer. This 8-year-old boy arrived looking as scraggly as can be, but his haircut turned him into a new man! Chocolate is 14 pounds of pure grateful love. He's very quiet and low key, and he's great with other dogs and cats and everyone he meets. He would do best in a low key home and will be the ideal, fuzzy little soul mate for someone who wants an apricot angel always by their side. Please lets find this little guy a good home!

 Superior Reality is a  three year old Greyhound girl, who goes by the call name Reese, has endeared herself to her foster home; it includes two adults, two kids, 2 hounds, 3 cats and a foster kitten. That's right even the cats have accepted her and, with our cats, that's saying something.  Reese has become Queen of the Stairs, climbing and descending easily. She has also mastered our tile/wood/laminate floors and is a dream on a leash, though she does enjoy play time in our fenced yard, too. She eats well and has had no accidents in the house. Reese is polite and gets in her typical 18 hours of greyhound napping every day. While the adults from the home work full time outside the home, Reese is crated. She has had no issues with the crate. At night, she sleeps on a dog bed next to our bed.  This girl is quite spry and a jumper - she doesn't jump on people, but she does jump over our 3' baby gates without batting one of her pretty eyelashes. She will need someone committed to either walking her a few times per day or someone with a 6' or more fence privacy fence. Reese is a highly affectionate girl -she loves to give and get hugs and loves to lay on a dog bed in whatever room we're in. She is also very smart, as demonstrated by her curiosity. While Reese quickly bonded with our hounds, I suspect she could also do well as an only dog. If you adopt her, be prepared to turn heads wherever you take her - she is an adorable beauty. Also be prepared to welcome into your life a loving friend who will give you endless adoration and warm company. Superior Reality, indeed.  Please lets find her a loving home!

  Faith is Labrador Retriever mix who was found as a stray in Mississippi in December. She was found to be a sweet and lovable dog so the shelter really wanted to make sure I was safe and eventually BDRA found out about me.I was invited to enter the Rescue in February, and two days later my right eye was removed due to trauma and high pressure. On February 21, she wasn’t feeling well and was admitted for observation at the vet hospital because of a possible obstruction. During exploratory surgery, it was discovered she had “pyloric stenosis” which is a stomach constriction and food couldn’t pass, but she had surgery and now that issue is resolved. She has healed from both my eye and stomach surgeries and feel so much better. During this time she was also treated for hook worms. Then,she finally made her way to Pennsylvania to live with her foster family. Unfortunately, it was discovered that she also suffers from copper hepatopathy (storage of copper in her liver). This is probably due to a genetic disorder, and she probably had this all my life. If this condition is left untreated, I will go into liver failure. The good news is BDRA is making sure she gets treated. She has seen the internist and will be starting her medication so her liver can rid itself of the excess copper. She is already eating the prescription diet which she will have to have the rest of her life. She is starting heartworm treatment as well. She has overcome many hurdles and still has a couple more to go. Because of her medical issues, she will need a special adopter.  In light of all of the above, she continues to remain a sweet, lovable, cuddly sweetheart who shows no aggression with toys, food, or other animals. Although everyone thinks she is about 5 years old, she loves to play with toys and bones, and she plays like a puppy. She loves her humans and am very affectionate towards them. When you see her there is always a smile on her face, and her tail is constantly wagging. She is very friendly and a happy dog. No one is ever going to tell her to just lie down and be sick!  She needs some work on basic commands, leash walking and housebreaking, but that will all come in time. Please lets find her a great home!

Cocoa is a Labradoodle. My dad is a black and white standard poodle and my mom is a chocolate lab. So besides beauty, she also has brains. She is looking for a new forever home. Her mom had to give her up do to some health issues; she could no longer give me the exercise she needed.  She would do really well with another dog in the home. Even though, she needs to be top dog, she still needs someone by her side to let her know that some things are ok. As a puppy, she needed someone to show her some of the ropes. She will alert you to people that she does not recognize as your friends and having another dog will help her realize which people can enter your home. She is great with kids. They do not make her nervous. She would love to join them with their activities. She can do tricks on command sit, down and shake. Speaking of tricks, with her previous owner she had very high scores in AKC novice. However, after a long winter of staying inside, she is taking a refresher course on walking nicely on a leash. There are so many new smells and things she wants to explore, she wants to go for a fast walk and not a stroll. She needs exercise on a daily basis. She also needs a job to keep her mind sharp. She could be a great obedience or agility dog.  She is looking forward to making a new start. Please lets find her a loving home!

No paw left behind our mission!

{Please keep in mind a dog is lifetime commitment. They need attention, love and time just like we do. In addition, adding a pet to the family does cost money in the way of food, health care, training,etc. So before adopting make sure you are willing to make that kind of commitment and have the resources to do so.}
