Paddy is a quiet and gentle boy with a great temperament. He is very calm and easy going. Since he has just come from his racing kennel, everything is new to him, and he is a little timid. If you are calm and quiet with him, he will come right up to you and really wants to be your friend. He is especially fond of tummy rubs and will thrive in a home where he will not have a lot of loud noise.  He calmly walks around the yard, or may get up to a trot for a little bit, but doesn't run around like you would expect of a retired racer. It is funny that Paddy was a really good racer, yet he is such a gentle and rather lazy dog. He loves to lounge around the house, and sometimes even eats lying down. Paddy is one greyhound that is living proof of the saying that greyhounds are the world's fastest couch potatoes. Paddy is an average size for a male greyhound at around 74 lbs. As you can see from his photos, Paddy is a tall, elegant fawn boy, a dog that you will be proud to show to your friends and neighbors.  Paddy gets along very well with other dogs, both large and small, and when we introduced him to the cat, he seemed to be very cat friendly, so he should be able to live in a home with a cat. Paddy already walks very calmly on a leash, stands quietly for a bath or to have his nails trimmed, and rides fine on motor trips. He is quickly adapting to life in a home, and will make an excellent companion.. Paddy raced a long time, from November 2011 until February 2014. He competed in 151 races at Derby Lane in St. Petersburg, and was a kennel favorite. In all he won 21 races. He deserves a good retirement with a loving family and really takes his retirement seriously. Please lets find him a great home!

 Baby is a real glamourpuss. Seven years old, this pretty lemon Beagle was recently abandoned by her owner to an uncertain fate at a large urban animal control facility where she landed on the fast track to death row. Owner surrendered dogs only have 48 hours to get their bearings in the hectic shelter environment before there number is up. If they impress behaviorists and steer clear of kennel cough, they may make it into the adoption program. Sadly, Baby wow'd her evaluators and received the top behavior rating, but caught the kennel cough after a few days, which squashed her chances for adoption. We love our Beagles and were happy to invite Baby to join our rescue group. She has settled in nicely and is enjoying the fresh air of freedom in her new foster home. She has just come out of quarantine, has conquered the kennel cough, and is happy and healthy. Baby has quite the Diva personalty. She is a proud girl, confident and oh so typically Beagle. She is smart, stubborn, and nosy. Well, Beagles are scent hounds and are just about as nosy as a dog can get. It doesn't take much to keep them amused. They revel in leisurely strolls on which they can take in all the wondrous scents of nature. Beagles can be tough to train because they are so easily distracted by a lingering scent in the wind, so adopters will want to use a gentle leader or no pull harness to keep Baby focussed during walks. Baby is very food and treat motivated, so positive rewards based obedience techniques work nicely on her. Baby has an all around nice temperament, and is generally friendly to strangers. She would be a good choice for the moderately active single, couple or family with older kids. She would like the companionship of other dogs, and could coexist nicely with cats if introduced properly. As an adult dog, Baby is well past the puppy destructive years and is house trained and crate trained. Adopters should be patient with the occasional accident that could occur during her transition to a new home. Please lets find her a good home!

  Mimi (the mom), Bubbie (the son), and Sissy (the daughter) are Boxer/Shepard mixes. These are young dogs who are very highly energetic. They are healthy and heartworm free. All 3 lived on the street until I took them in when the puppies were around 4 to 6 months old. They have been with me since 9-09. All their lives have been spent together. They are very connected with each other and I am looking for a family that will take all 3 of them. I love them very much, but I already have 6 dogs and being a senior citizen makes it impossible for me to meet the needs of these young energetic guys. They are all spayed and neutered. They need their own family, hopefully with children because they love kids. I believe there is a family out there ready for these 3 dog. Please lets find them a great home!

No paw left behind our mission!

{Please keep in mind a dog is lifetime commitment. They need attention, love and time just like we do. In addition, adding a pet to the family does cost money in the way of food, health care, training,etc. So before adopting make sure you are willing to make that kind of commitment and have the resources to do so.}
