Monday Musings

So last week I wrote about how a major snowstorm was moving into the Philadelphia area, well we received at least 10 inches and mid week got hit by an ice storm that left over 700,000 homes and businesses without power.  In fact, people are still without power.  Sunday we had about 3 inches more snow.

Meanwhile they are watching another potential major snowstorm that could be moving in midweek.  Here in Philadelphia whenever they mention Nor'easter it usually means lots of moisture whether it be rain or snow.  And there is already lots of snow still covering everything as the arctic air is making it hard for it to melt.
The power outages have left even grocery stores and malls closed.  Got out on Saturday but the stores were wiped out of many things.  Needless to say the snowy weather has everyone snowed in and wishing for Spring.

Over the weekend I tried to catch up on errands, clean house, change sheets, did many loads of laundry, organized the office, worked on valentines crafts, tried a new dessert, watched a movie plus the Olympics and spent a lot of time daydreaming about warm weather.

During winter I really miss gardening.  Though I have lots of house plants still miss growing fruits and vegetables.  I've decided to try my hand at creating an indoor herb garden as it would be nice to have fresh herbs to cook with. Just not sure where to start, with seeds or already established plants. So need to research it a little further.

One thing that has been amazing this winter even with all the snow has been the sunsets.  There have been some beautiful sunsets glistening against the snow. If only every one could stay home in this weather, be able to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature.
