Mini is a West Highland mix who was rescued from a shelter on what would have been her very last day. Mini is very sweet and plays nicely with other dogs and loves everyone she meets. She is a little shy at first but warms up quickly. Mini is close to a year old and weighs about 10 lbs. Mutts and Moms does not place small dogs in homes with young children. If you would like to give this dog a loving home, please go to and read "how to adopt" and then fill out our online application. This rescue group is an all-volunteer rescue organization who prefers to be contacted via email.  Let's find this little girl the loving  home she deserves.

Once upon a time  there was a Maltese on the euthanasia list at a hi kill shelter in New York City.  He weighed 20 lbs, he was blind, his fur was thin, he was dirty.  No one wanted him.......really.
So Red Hook Dog rescue took him.  Lots of tests later we found he was hypothyroid, regular medication which hardly costs a thing and he is a new guy. He is quite the little dude and so handsome.  He is around 7 yrs old.  He is fine around other dogs and cats and kids.  You can hardly go wrong. Please come meet him!

Myrtle came to us with a litter of 7 pups in 7/09.  She was adopted to a family in Washington DC in 11/09 and they are returning her to us o 1/11 because they "are just not dog people".   She is a sweet dog that weighs about 54 pounds.  She is a short dog and we think she is a beagle mix.  After tending to all the needs of her pups it is finally her turn to become a member of a spoiled rotten home. She is a very quiet, calm and loving dog.  Rarely barks and just wants to lay on the couch and be comfy.  She does great with all other dogs and will get excited and run and play.  She is housebroken and just a wonderful girl.  Can you give her the love and home that she deserves?

Why did my mommy throw me away, wasn't I a good boy? I know I am getting old, but I still act like a young dog, and I never complained, even though my mouth hurts from bad teeth, and my nails are so long that they are curled like corkscrews. I had to stay all alone in a big shelter until someone came and got me and gave me a bath and cleaned me up, and gave me medicine to help me feel better.  My foster mom tells me, that I am going to find a new home where someone appreciates my sweetness, and won't hold it against me that I am not a puppy. Please let's find this sweet boy the loving home he needs.

Sampson was taken into the rescue after his owner left him at a vet office. He was severely malnourished, and had to be completely shaved because his hair was so matted. He's on pain medication due to the pain in his joints and hips caused by the starvation and muscle wasting. He has a difficult time walking without it, but the need for medication is dissipating as he gains weight and muscle! He is an affectionate boy about 5 years old, you can't tell from the pics but he is very tall and once he is back to a proper weight will be a very large boy. He gets along with the other dogs and now ignores the cats at his foster home, and is friendly to all people he meets. He wants a lot of love and reassurance from his people. He is learning how to play now and is a happy guy. Sampson is house trained, crate trained and loves to sleep on very soft things like thick blankets and doggie beds, and yes the couch as well, after the life he has had he deserves to be snuggled with on the couch.  Adoption fee will be provided by the rescue when application is received; transport available to the northeast for an additional fee.  Go to website link below fill out adoption application and give this boy the loving home he deserves!

Aspen and Denver are the best of friends. Aspen is a 1yr F Lab/Pit Bull X and Denver is a 1yr M Boxer/Pit Bull X. Their owner has lost her home and can no longer keep them. Now Aspen and Denver are searching for a new place to call home. Aspen is beautiful and such a sweet girl! She is a big girl at about 80lbs, but so well behaved. She knows her basic commands, like sit and stay. She is leash trained and listens very well when off leash too. She loves people and does great with children. She loves her best friend Denver and does well with other dogs. She is spayed, up to date on shots, and crate trained. She is just an all around good girl.  Denver is a cutie and such a character! He is a big guy at around 80lbs. He knows his basic commands, like sit and stay, but he also knows how to shake and dance:) He is leash trained and crate trained. He does well off leash too. He adores people and kids. He is just fine with other dogs. He is neutered and up to date on shots as well. Aspen and Denver are adorable and sweet and would do great anywhere they go. They would really like to find a family to love and one that would let them stay together. Please can someone find it in their hearts to adopt both these sweet dogs into their family!

No paw left behind is our mission!

{Please keep in mind a dog is a lifetime commitment. They need attention, love and time just like we do. In addition, adding a pet to the family does cost money in the way of food, health care,training,etc. So before adopting make sure you are willing to make that kind of commitment and have the resources to do so.}
