Woof Wednesday

Welcome to Woof Wednesday. Please meet some special dogs from CA, FL, NJ, PA and WI all in need of good, loving homes.

Please feel free to use social media to spread the word about these dogs. The more people hear about them the better chance they have of finding homes. Thanks. (or as the dogs would say woof, woof)

They are bonded siblings  and are always together.  They are Pointer mixed breed.  And they are very enthusiastically affectionate if you like getting licked. We do dig at our current home and get into the neighbors yard. They are housebroken, good with children and vaccinated.  Let's find these two siblings a good home in which they can go to together!

Soldier is a scared little 8 lb cairn terrier mix between 2 - 4 years old. He was surrendered by his family because their landlord would not allow them to keep him.  Can you imagine being given up by the only family you have known?  He's been fearful in the shelter, but he is now improving with continuous positive feedback from the staff. His confidence needs improvement and will continue to improve with basic obedience training. We do not recommend that he go to a home with children who might try his patience. He could, however, live with a same size dog of the opposite sex.  If you are interested in adopting Soldier, please email dogs@phillypaws.org for an application. If you are interested in seeing a specific dog, please speak with our adoption staff member at 215-298-9680 X16.  Now let's find this sweet dog the loving home he deserves!

In some ways the rescue feels Tucker is a special needs dog.  Tuck has been through a couple of homes already and although he's really a nice dog no one seems to be able to offer him an alpha leader and a job to keep him happy.  They feel a tired, satisfied dog is a happy dog.  Therefore are looking for someone with lots of experience that would like to train this dog. Tucker is a 5 year old Yellow Labrador Retriever.  He comes from a line of hunting dogs (his father was a champion) so he has lots of energy and stamina.  Tucker has never been taught any hunting skills himself and has been a family (with school aged children) pet.  Tucker is house broken, crate trained, and has some general obedience.  He loves playing with other dogs.  Tucker will need a household that has things for him to do...a job like hunting, hiking, jogging, etc.  He needs boundaries and a leader that will require his respect.  A fenced in yard would be best as he does not have a decent recall at this time.  Must be a humane individual with some time to devote to his wonderful dog.  Please lets find Tucker the special home he needs to thrive!

Lulu is thought to be a Westie mix. The Vet says she is about 6 months old. She was rescued, along with a sibling, who looks nothing like her, from a hoarding situation, where she had to scramble for food with 20 other dogs in a small two bedroom apartment.  Poor baby had never been outside or seen steps, but her foster mom says she isn't afraid of going outside now and has accomplished coming up steps. She doesn't know how to go down them yet but is working on it as Lulu gains confidence. Both her pad training and house training are coming along well. She's a sweet little thing, loves everyone, including children and other dogs.  If you are interested in adopting Lulu, please have a fenced yard, no very young children, and be willing to be patient and loving with her.  She is very sweet and wants to be loved.  Adoption Donation $395  Please fill out an application do not send inquiries. The rescue is all volunteers and cannot answer inquiries without an application on file.  If you are a match for the dog you will be contacted. Thank you for understanding.  Copy here for our application:   http://www.emailmeform.com/builder/form/4L4rbUH08f75DP3v. Please specify which dog you are applying for in the space provided. Although this rescue may have stricter requirements than some please don't let that deter you from finding LuLu a good home.  She is a special dog who needs to find a loving home!

Pippen is a 3-4-year-old Wheaten/Schnauzer mix or similar mix. He came from a local Animal Control before joining the ranks at Puppy Hill. He's a good boy and enjoys learning new commands. He can sit and lie down.  He does okay with other dogs, but would probably be happiest as an only dog. He does have some issues when it comes to men. It's not all men and not all the time, so Pippen would need to meet any male in the home before being adopted. He is a great dog though and has many great qualities. He's house-trained and crate-trained. He's very loyal and attentive. He is a beautiful boy with a lovely coat. Please lets find loyal Pippen a good home!

No paw left behind is our mission!

{Please keep in mind a dog is lifetime commitment.  They need attention, love and time just like we do.  In addition, adding a pet to the family does cost money in the way of food, health care, training,etc. So before adopting make sure you are willing to make that kind of commitment and have the resources to do so.}
