Soul Sunday

“God will help you do anything. Even still, at times, there is only so much you can do. Sometimes you just need to take a break and recharge your batteries so you can get back to moving full speed again once you’re rested. Even God took a break on the seventh day.”  – Elmer Laydon
When I came across this quote it seemed perfect for this Sunday.   Christians believe Sundays should be observed as a day for worship of God and rest.  They believe it's the Lord's Day.  Other religions set aside a similar day for Jewish it is Saturday and Muslims Friday.
No matter what one's religion though taking such a day is important.  We all need moments to rest, recharge and to even be able to focus on what really matters in life.  Often times within the daily grind of chores, work, schedules, etc., we can lose sight of those people and things that mean the most to us.
But how many of us can really take a whole day to rest. It's tough for sure.  I know around here the list of things to do always feel so long.  And some how it always seems to fall on me to get it down.  If I rest for a few moments I'm lucky and know many people feel the same.
But then I read quote like the one above and it reminds me that those things to do will still be around tomorrow, so would it really hurt to put them off for one day.  And besides there is only so much we can do before we burn ourselves out.  But in taking such a day it's also important to include things that fulfill our souls as well.  Days for fun, happiness and opposed to just zoning out in front of the tv all day.
Just something to think about this Sunday.
Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold.  But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow.
