Woof Wednesday

Welcome to Woof Wednesday.   Since April is National Greyhound adoption month I am trying to put the focus on these beautiful dogs.  Greyhounds hold a special place in my world as both my sister and her mother in law have adopted Greyhounds.

Most Greyhounds start off their first few years in rather rough conditions.  Being forced to race, spending a majority of their time in cramped quarters and have little social contact.   In fact, thousands are killed simply because they lack racing potential, injured while racing or no longer competitive.  You can read more about that at the ASPCA Greyhound or check out the link to these Greyhound articles Greyhound Articles.

So let's find these beautiful, gentle dogs loving homes!

 Sunshine is a little red girl, 3 years old and about 58 pounds. She is sweet and friendly. She can be a bit startled by loud noises and sudden movements until she gets comfortable in a place, so a family with very young and loud toddlers might not be the best choice for her. She gets along great with dogs of all sizes. She is a little doll and walks nicely on a leash.

Foyle is a wonderful boy. He is very nice

Lily Eleanor has returned to rescue because her adoring adopter developed health problems and can no longer care for her small friend. At ten Lily is confident and not afraid of starting over.  She does like her naps and prefers company but is content with a nice bed and blanket that is near her person. Lily, is very well trained and despite her clouded vision, she gets around well but is wary of heights so will not try to jump up on furniture. Lily Eleanor is a gentle spirit, undemanding, easy and comfortable, very affectionate.

And this week I have provided more links to some great Greyhound Rescues who have many special Greyhounds in need of good, loving homes.  Please check out these great organizations.

 {Please keep in mind a dog is a lifetime commitment. They need attention, love and time just like we do. In addition, adding a pet to the family does cost money in the way of food, health care,training,etc. So before adopting make sure you are willing to make that kind of commitment and have the resources to do so.}
