Soul Sunday

"And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.” (1 Peter 5:10 NIV)

Today a situation happened that brought me back to an old rather hurtful period of life.  It was a period of life that was stressful for me, it overwhelmed in many ways but it especially seemed to take a physical toll.  Or so that is what I have learned in hindsight.

Interesting how life takes on a new perspective, understanding or whatever else as we experience each new day, week, month, and year.

That's the thing though there are many times in life that it's hard to see past the moment.  It's those times when we must learn to take it one moment at a time: ask God or a Higher Power for the next moment, then the next hour and before one knows it they will hopefully we beyond the storm.

Think about it.  Have you ever gotten frustrated with a situation, one in which you just wanted to give up and walk away?  It could be anything a horrible job, overwhelming illness, ,hurtful, relationship, financial woes, family problems, addictions, etc..  Giving up can be the easy solution, but then think about all the consequences or lost opportunities in doing so.  Often those difficult times are filled with deep wisdom, and tremendous moments of learning.    In fact they can even bring a joy and happiness never imagined.

But many people during frustrating situations turn away from God or a Higher Power.  They simply give up believing.  On this Sunday think about what would have happened if God gave up and walked away from us?

Life is a mystery at times, maybe we will never understand the whys of everything but can it hurt to simply focus on the smallest good each day, to be patience, to muster courage, have faith and hope, to sincerely pray, and most of all to turn any and all problems over to God or a Higher Power.  And then to simply believe.  Remember faith is confidence, trust, belief in a person or thing that is not based on proof.

Just something to keep in mind this Sunday.  Blessings!

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” (James 1:2-5 NIV)
