Monday Musings

Monday and a holiday!   Though some days I wonder if many people even give the holiday a thought, or does having the day off overshadow the whole meaning of the day?  Just a thought....

And I was going to do my normal Monday Musings about the weekend and whatever else but it just doesn't feel right on such a holiday.

Instead I'd like to say this because I think we all need to sometimes reflect.  "I Have A Dream" is an amazing speech, one that continues to inspire today.   Martin Luther gave hope to our world, he provided us with inspiration, and was a strong believer in non violence.   He was a follower and strong believe in the teachings of Gandhi as well.  He wanted a world where people will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.  Where the saying "all men are created equal" would really mean such.

Sadly, I don't think our society has come far enough in those regards.  There is still way too much prejudice, judgement, and overall division in our world.   And I wonder what it will take for people to all come together.  To live in a world free of hate, free of prejudice, free of judgement, free of violence, etc.

How do we create a world in which all people are regarded as equal?  A world where differences are cherished not looked down upon?  How do we create a world based on peace not violence?  How do we create a world filled with more people like Martin Luther and Mohandos Gandhi?

This Monday let's remember that this world can be whatever we make it!

Here are two of my favorite Martin Luther King quotes.

An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.
