Monday Musings

Welcome to Monday....it is now 6 am and I've been awake for about 2 hrs already.  I tossed and turned for awhile, then my mind started thinking about stuff, and from there....well there was turning back.  So, I decided I might as well get up and peruse job listings. Fun stuff at 4 am.

Overall the weekend was the best I've had in awhile.  Dare I say....it was almost perfect. Started with my man bringing me a beautiful bouquet of lilies Friday evening, followed by us attending a Villanova basketball game.

Saturday we took a trip to IKEA to do a little browsing, watched some football and then he took me out to dinner in Chestnut Hill. (which if you aren't familiar with the Philadelphia area is a small, quaint dining/shopping area nestled right outside the city....you know the kind with white lights on the trees, cobblestone roads, and overall one of those places with a romantic feel to it)

It is rare for us to have such an evening together, dining out isn't popular in our household.  So the fact that we not only dined out, but that we dined in a place with a romantic atmosphere was very, very special!

In fact, it left me wishing we did such things more often because it invokes such a feeling of closeness. Those shared moments with no outside distractions are awesome.  Those moments where the stresses of life disappear and love becomes more the focus.

If only there were more of those moments in life.  More affection, more love, more time to just relax together.  Ahhhh....I feel myself starting to daydream now.  ; )

Sunday wasn't as perfect. I had to work on household finances which is never fun.  We usually save all our receipts and monthly expenses then split them at the end of the month.  It is my job to tally all expenses.  Let me tell you....there is nothing fun about it.  And I can understand how finances are a rather large antagonist in many a relationship.  Talking about anything money related is just dreadful.

Even though I have told my man to save all receipts, every month he claims he doesn't have all his receipts and that there must be somethings missing. Ughhhhh.....which then seems to always turn into a very stressful conversation about money.

And every month when I have to work on the finances I seem to end up awake, sleepless, and stressing about money for about a week after.  I put a lot of effort and time into it, but I've learned that once the work is completed it still requires both parties to discuss the stuff, which is by far the hardest part.

Ironic too, because upon first learning my man was a financial analyst many years ago I got excited thinking I met a man who is smart with money, numbers, investing and has sparkling finances". Not in the sense like he was wealthy, but in the sense I've met someone who can teach me about finance, investing, and budgeting.  As math has always been my weakness.

Truth of the matter is when it comes to personal finance he wants nothing to do with it, instead I've had to learn and do those very things I thought he  would be an expert in. Although, I have learned a lot in the process so I guess it is all good.

Anyway....that's my weekend in a nutshell and if only I had held off on working on the finances it would have been a perfect weekend!  Oh well....that is life.  It was still an overall great weekend!

Wow it is almost 7 am., not only did I get to do a little writing but also sent out at least 10 resumes this morning too.  At least I'm off to a productive start.  And waking up this early does occasionally have it's advantages such as being able to take in the sunrise.

Truth be told I'm starting to feel real tired.  So think it's time for a little breakfast and vitamin water!
Mondays aren't they great.....
